Chef Luke Fishpool hosts successful Virtual Cook Along for Accuro!
Virtual Events and online gatherings have become the new normal recently. West Essex based disability charity Accuro (Care Services) is embracing life online with virtual fundraisers – the latest of which is a ‘Zoom Cooking Class’. On Tuesday 15th September at 6pm, Accuro supporters tuned in for a live session on Zoom with chef Luke Fishpool, to make a delicious restaurant style Thai Green Curry.
Luke Fishpool was Head Chef/Proprietor at the Lemon Tree Restaurant on Bishop’s Stortford for 22 years. Luke and his wife Sue (our Fundraising manager!) closed the business in December 2018 and Luke has since retrained to become a personal trainer working out of MW Fitness Personal Training and Well Being studio at Wickham Hall, Bishop’s Stortford as well as training a number of private clients.
Luke says ‘I ran a series of Virtual Cook Along’s during lockdown for clients of MW Fitness and really enjoyed being able to use my chef skills and knowledge in a way that helped to connect and inform our clients during a difficult time. Later, a successful a Cook Along for the staff at Stanley Tee made me realise that a charity Cook Along could help in so many ways, not only by raising funds but also by bringing people together to share a fun and informative experience. My wife Sue has been in the charity sector for over 5 years and she jumped at the chance to run some virtual Cook Along’s for her charity Accuro (Care Services).’
The session was a huge success with more than 10 people tuning in and cooking along live with Luke, all ending up with a perfect, chef style Thai Green Curry.
A second Cook Along Session cooking a VEGAN Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato Tagine with Giant Cous Cous is planned for 13th October. Head to our events page for details!
