Debbie was involved in setting up a charity called ResCU (Respite Care in Uttlesford) which started as a support group for parents of special needs children. Meetings were held  around kitchen tables bemoaning the lack of respite and services for children with learning disability in the area. Accuro came into being as a spinoff from ResCU.

A recently retired HR professional, Debbie decided to return to Accuro, a charity close to her heart and which has supported her daughter over many years.
