Our daughter is 19 yearsold and has severe autism, which limits her communication skills. She attends a specialist school in Cambridge. She started attending the holiday scheme when she was six years old and now is a keen member of the Under-19s youth club. Shehas also taken part in Accuro life skill sessions, including healthy eating, cooking, personal hygiene and household chores. This was further built on during Accuro residentials when shewas encouraged by staff to be as independent as possible.
We have been able to visit our son at university when she has been on Accuro residentials, knowing that she is happy and safe with people who know her and can meet her needs.
We know that she is happy at Accuro, as shown by the big smiles in the photos taken at clubs and how excited she gets when she knows she’s going to Accuro. Her communication and social skills have significantlyimproved, and she interacts much more with others. She has become so much more independent through attending residentials and life skills courses at Accuro.
